Since 1990, WBPH TV60 has been broadcasting Faith and Family programming to the Lehigh Valley. In 2002, with FCC approval, WBPH increased to full power and expanded its signal to include Philadelphia. In 2009 WBPH further expanded its reach with newly authorized and maximized VHF digital transmission facilities. Then in 2019 after acquiring WLYH TV49 the viewing region expanded to the Harrisburg, Lancaster area, to become “Lighthouse TV.”
Our history is dedicated in memory of our Founder, Pat Huber.
Always loved and deeply missed. She went to be with her Savior Jesus in December of 2023.
Our founder Pat Huber started producing Christian programming in the Lehigh Valley in 1979 on Twin County Cable, now Astound Powered by RCN. She produced 2 programs, Sonshine People, a talk-variety show, and Sonny Farms, a Children’s show in a farm setting.
In 1985 Pat incorporated and formed Sonshine Family Television Corporation and applied to the FCC for a full-power TV license in Bethlehem, PA. Through many struggles, prayers, and perseverance, WBPH signed on the air on December 27th, 1990, and began broadcasting Christian and Family programming to the Lehigh Valley area as WBPH Channel 60.
In 2009, WBPH expanded its reach to include all of Philadelphia with newly authorized and maximized digital transmission facilities. In 2019, after acquiring WLYH TV49, the viewing region extended to the Harrisburg, Lancaster area. At this time our name was officially changed to Lighthouse TV to incorporate all markets under one consistent brand.
Expansion continued in 2021 with the purchase of a TV studio in Philadelphia that now provides a base to produce shows in the expansive Philadelphia regional market. Lighthouse will also open a brand-new studio in Harrisburg, PA during early 2024.
With studios located in the Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, and Central Pennsylvania, Lighthouse is positioned to create and deliver custom content seamlessly for each region.
